Via Algarviana - a 240kms long walking trail in the Algarve Region

The Algarve’s local government and entities have created the “Via Algarviana”, a path that is crossing the region and allows visitors to walk from Alcoutrim to Sagres. This project, inaugurated on May 29, 2009, involves the implementation of a 240 kms walking path between Lower Guadiana and Cape Saint Vincent, crossing the algarve's countryside. The path functions as the backbone of walking paths of the region, in order to promote other existing ones. It also intends to promote walking and other means of ecotourism in the Algarve, to promote and enhance cultural environmental heritage of the region and to promote a sustainable development of the Algarve countryside. New 5 star luxury property opens in Vilamoura - Tivoli Victoria

The new 5 star luxury property Tivoli Victoria is scheduled to open on January 15, 2009, in Vilamoura. The hotel will offer a panoramic view over the fairways of the new Victoria Golf Course - designed by the renowned architect Arnold Palmer - will include an Elements Spa by Banyan Tree. It will have 280 rooms including a Presidential suite, two executive suites and fourteen junior suites. There will also be two restaurants, three bars, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) as well as an area of 900 m2 for meeting rooms.

Oceanico opens two new great golf courses in the Algarve Region

The two new Oceânico Faldo Course and Oceânico O’Connor Jnr. Course at Amendoeira Golf Resort located in the Algarve Region will be officially opened during the week of the Portugal Masters (16th – 19th October, 2008).

Portimao cruise port offers regular ferry to Funchal in Madeira

Portimão will see 40 cruise ships docking at its port by the end of 2008. The addition of its new ferry crossing to Madeira is sure to continue to establish the destination as one of Europe’s most up-and-coming ports-of-call. As of June 15th, Naviera Armas is offering regular ferry crossings between Portimão and Funchal, Madeira. Cape Verde is also a port-of-call and the Canaries are being considered. It will be the first regular sea-crossing between the country on the continent and the island region in 30 years. A round-trip will start from approximately $900. Bookings can now be made on www.navieraarmas.com. Currently, around six thousand tourists visit Portimão annually on excursions organized while their cruise ships are docked at the city.
